Some of our weekend camps can be a
bit hectic so in the summer we like to get away for a bit longer
and enjoy some time in the countryside. In 2010 we went to
Downe
Scout Activity Centre near Biggin Hill

From toasted sandwiches to tea lights we packed a lot into our camp.
That's not forgetting go karts, crates, camp fires and of course, Charles Darwin
who lived nearby. We also completed our camper and naturalist's badges and
barely got rained on at all.
Camps don't happen by accident and we need to record our thanks to the
leaders and helpers:
- Baloo - who made sure that the programme ran to time and kept score of the
all important ribbons
- Keego - who was in charge of firewood and managed to light the camp fire
each night Raksha style - with just one match
- Sarah & Angie - who popped up all over the place from wielding a spatula
in the kitchen to doing the evening tooth cleaning run
- Marian - who, as usual, made cooking in the middle of a field for 21
people look easy despite having to use dodgy gas burners and having no fridge
or way of keeping food warm
- All the parents - who helped us pitch tents and also filled their cars
with our gear to bring it home from camp
There are more than 100 pictures of our time of camp in the
photo
gallery.
