instructions and directions are now online. Please note
timing changes for Saturday.
We are looking for volunteers to help us load the van and
put up
tents
The curse of 1st Billingshurst seems to have hit our camp
again with the wet and cool weather forecast to continue. Please
make sure you bring appropriate warm and waterproof clothing -
waterproof coat (and trousers if you have them but don't buy
them specially), plenty of spare clothes, welly boots, bags for
wet clothes. Blackland Farm tell us that their activities
continue in all weathers.
Please read the rest of this page carefully and see the
joining instructions for departure time
Where? We will be camping at
Blackland Farm, a well equipped Girl Guide Association site
near East Grinstead. This is a level
3 camp. You will need to make your own way there
(you may like to follow
our directions).
When? Camp runs from the afternoon of Saturday 16
August until lunchtime on Tuesday 19 August.
How much does it cost? The camp fee is £55. This does not reflect the full cost of the camp and we will
be using some of our money raised by bag packing at Budgens at
Christmas to keep your costs down.
Who is coming? You can check the
guest list to see who is on the list.
What activities will we be doing? In addition to all
the general camp activities such as camp fires, wide games,
washing up and playing games on the field, we will be taking
advantage of being at Blackland Farm by using the on-site
activities and also exploring the local area. We will be:
What do I need to bring? Our
standard kit list applies for
this camp. In addition you should bring a small daysack and
water bottle for our hike. You may also like to bring some
pocket money to spend at the Bluebell Railway and the camp site
shop. Please limit this to a maximum of £5. You will need to
look after your own money so please make sure it is in a purse
with your name on it. We would be grateful for donations of cakes for
the kitchen. Please bring enough to feed 6 people.
If you have not camped before you may find our
information for first time campers
useful. If you are not sure what kit to buy please ask.
Can you help?
We are pleased to report that we
have 18 cubs going to camp but this causes problems of its own.
We are grateful to David Clare for
arranging a van for Saturday and to Adrian Meyer for use of his
vehicle on Tuesday. We would really appreciate having a few extra adults
who can help us load up at the hall on Saturday morning (from
9.30am) or stay
at the site with us to help get the tents up as quickly as
possible. Similarly, a bit of help taking things down on Tuesday
morning would also be appreciated and we may need some people to
help transport gear back to the hall.
Tent pitchers
We are grateful for the offers of help pitching tents on
Saturday afternoon. You should make your way to the site for 12
noon. Parents of the following Cubs have
volunteered:
- Tom Clare
- Richard Brooks
- Cameron Davis
- Laurence Goward
- Matt Wilson
- JoJo Sheehan
Van loaders
We are pleased to say that we have managed to borrow a van via Tom
Clare. We will be loading up at the hall from 9.30am on Saturday. Parents of the following cubs have
offered to help us load:
- Joseph Rodriguez
- Cameron Davis
- Jamie Bennett
