Stedham
Next Cubs: Tuesday 7 September. Duty six: Red
Cubs is back on Tuesday. We'll be catching up with what you did on holiday
as well as hearing from those who went on our Summer Camp to Downe. Keego has a
challenge this term to introduce some new games so keep an eye out for them. We
also hope to be welcoming some new members.
Stedham - pirates
wanted
We're having a pirate weekend at Stedham in September and more information may be found on
the Stedham page.
We'll be sending out paperwork towards the end of the holidays so if you haven't
already confirmed your place by paying your deposit please let Akela know that
you are interested in coming. We currently have 8 Cubs on the guest list.
Showtime
Every two years the group puts on its production called "Showtime". The next
performance will be in February 2011 and auditions will take place in September.
Cubs are invited to attend on Monday 13 September from 7pm. Please see the
Showtime letter for
more information and a contact e-mail address.
Big band evening
As a fund raiser for our hut refurbishment fund (which plans to equip the
hall with new toilet facilities) the group has organised an evening with the Ron
Green Big Band evening on 11 September. For more information please see the
Big Band poster.
Jamboree fundraising
In 2011 the next World Jamboree will take place in Sweden and a Scout from
1st Billingshurst is attending. Better than that, Kyle used to be a Parbrook Cub
and so we are doing what we can to support him with his fundraising. We'll also
be wearing the UK Jamboree badge from next term. For more about the fundraising
events and the Jamboree itself please see our
Jamboree page.
Sainsbury's Active Kids
We've now closed our collection for Sainsbury's vouchers and sent off our
order. Our final total was
2143 and we expect our order to arrive in October. Thank you to everybody that collected vouchers for us.
100 Club
The group is operating a "100 Club" to raise funds for the refurbishment
work on the toilets. The first draw will be in September but they need names
now. There are 10 draws in a year, each with a monthly prize of £10. If you'd
like to be in the club please let us know by returning the
reply slip with
your £10 payment.
Note that money raised this way is for the group whereas our normal "painless
fundraising" through buy.at etc goes direct into our pack funds.
Online shopping
By clicking through to your shopping site from
www.buy.at/parbrook we get commission
on your purchases. Our total raised this way has now reached over £660, with
more than £175 raised in 2010 so far. Not bad when it is money for nothing.
Now you can see where we have been
raising our money.
It doesn't cost you more so please try and remember to click
through. We have
new merchants taking us to over 100 shops in our scheme. They include Ikea, Waterstones, HMV,
Amazon, CD-wow, play.com, e-bay, Mothercare, Game and Marks & Spencer (not food). You can also earn
money when you
book your holiday with
sites like Haven, Butlins, Expedia, Hotels.com, Laterooms and Hertz.
Check out our
top offers and this week's
newsletter.

If you register your Subs payment for Gift Aid then we can
claim back the tax - so your Subs go further. It's easy money for us so if you
haven't registered for Gift Aid please complete the
Gift Aid e-note and hand it to
your leaders.
