Overnight camp
Our next meeting - Tuesday 9 February, Duty Six: Yellow
This week we are asking each six to run a 15 minute game. That means
actually running it, not just choosing it but of course with a leader per six
there will be somebody to help you. The games that have been chosen are
dodgeball, crab football, deer and tiger and James Bond. Because of the time it
takes to play James Bond we may have to hold that over to another week. Our
meeting will end with the investitures of James, Toby and Scott who will have
swum up from Beavers earlier that evening.
Overnight Camp
We always like to have at least one night away each term. This term it will
be an overnight camp at the hall at the end of February. We will be working on
the communicators badge during the weekend. For more information and to reserve
a place please see our overnight camp page.
If you are on our guest list it is now time to complete and return the
health form.
Online booking
We'd like to know if you plan to
come to Cubs in half term and on 30 March so please
complete our Doodle form and let us know.
Goodbye
We've said our farewells to Tom and Laurence who have now flown up to
Scouts. As our eldest Cubs they were also excellent Sixers and I'm sure that Red
and Blue sixes will notice the difference now that they have gone. We wish them
all the best in Scouts.
District Quiz
Well done to our quiz team - Jack, Jamie, Tom and Michael - who came second
in the District Quiz.
Our programme
We spent part of first week back finding out what you would like to have in
your programme for the term. We then published our
programme for the term. At your request it includes camping, cooking, James
Bond, an inter-six board game challenge, dark games, crafts and swimming. We're
holding over some of the ideas for trips and expeditions until the summer term.
Thanks for your ideas - we hope you like the programme you helped make.
We've had to make a small change to the programme. We agree the swimming up date
for Beavers with the colony but they had managed to be double booked. We've
changed it to 9 February.
Bag packing
Thank you to everybody that helped with bag packing at Christmas. I think most
of the pack turned out for one of the weeks and there were three stars - Samian, Bill and Sam who did both weeks. Raksha has now done the
adding up and can report that over the two weeks we collected a staggering
£618.61. Well done and thank you to all the Billingshurst shoppers that put
money in our buckets.
e-bay joins our buy.at shop
We rely on income from our buy.at shop to keep our subs and trip costs down.
All you have to do is go to
www.buy.at/parbrook and then click through when you shop at sites like M&S,
Expedia, Amazon and play.com. Now e-bay has joined our shop and we will get up
to 30% of your transaction as commission. If you keep shopping, we'll keep
earning.
Online shopping
By clicking through to your shopping site from
www.buy.at/parbrook we get commission
on your purchases. Our total raised this way has now reached over £450, with
almost £160 raised in 2009. Not bad when it is money for nothing.
Now you can see where we have been
raising our money.
It doesn't cost you more so please try and remember to click
through. We have
new merchants taking us to over 100 shops in our scheme. They include Ikea, Waterstones, HMV,
Amazon, CD-wow, play.com, e-bay, Mothercare, Game and Marks & Spencer (not food). You can also earn
money when you
book your holiday with
sites like Haven, Butlins, Expedia, Travelcare, Superbreak and Hertz.
Check out our
top offers and this week's
newsletter.

If you register your Subs payment for Gift Aid then we can
claim back the tax - so your Subs go further. It's easy money for us so if you
haven't registered for Gift Aid please complete the
Gift Aid e-note and hand it to
your leaders.
